This interactive was designed for the Home Horticulture course HS 200, taught by Professor Lee Ivy at NC State. Working with DELTA at NC State, I acted as the New Media Lead, working with the team to plan and design the UI/UX for the interactive, UI graphics and artwork, and art directed the animations.
Our instructional challenge was to help students to explain the five plant processes (Photosynthesis, Respiration, Absorption, Transpiration, and Translocation (PRATT)) and their relation to each other; illustrate each process using a diagram; and identify the location of each process within a single plant image.
Our solution provides an interactive, exploratory interface with multiple levels and animations that helps students visualize the five plant processes and their relationships with one another throughout the 24-hour cycle of a single day. The accompanying text and narrative describes both active and inactive states for these processes.
